Frequently Asked Questions

How many births have you attended?
I have not yet attended any births. I am currently obtaining my certification and am working as a student.

Why did you become a doula?
I became a doula because I felt drawn to the birth world. After experiencing two different births, two different styles of support and all the love and commitment of those who surround you in your birthing space, I knew I needed to make sure that other birthing parents felt that same comfort, support and care as I did.

What training did you receive? Are you certified?
I am currently obtaining my certification through Bebo Mia. They are a doula training company that offers a comprehensive 12 week training program to ensure that the doulas who finish their training through them are competent and confident. I have finished my twelve weeks of training and am working to complete my final exam and obtain all other requirements for certification.

Do you attend all hospital births? Home births? Are there any birth centers you don’t go to?
I am willing to attend hospital, home and birthing center births.

What does your pricing include?

Do you meet with us after the birth to review the labor and answer questions? 
I will stay with you for 90 minutes after the birth for assistance with breastfeeding, answering any questions and make sure that you feel confident before I exit the birthing space. I will then come to your home for two postpartum visits.

Do you have a backup doula? Can I meet them ahead of time? How did you choose your backup doula?
I currently do not have a backup doula but will be looking to hire/work with a backup doula in the near future. I do have a network of Doulas in the surrounding area and will contact one should I feel that the potential need for a back-up.

When will you be on call for my birth?
I will be on call for your birth two weeks before your estimated due date and remain on call until the baby(babies) are born.

Do you have references I can contact or reviews I can read?
I have a reference available that I will provide during our meet and greet, prior to signing of contracts.

Do you offer any additional services?
Currently Bean to Babe Doula Services offers four services: Birth Doula, Birth and Postpartum Doula, Prenatal and Postpartum Doula and Birth Plan Building. In addition to these wonderful services, there are five more services that are in the works; Labour and Lactation Doula, Lactation Doula, an online Prenatal Course, a Prenatal Course and a Breastfeeding Course. How many clients do you have around my due date?
I am currently only taking four clients a month, one per week. When you express interest and we have our meet and greet, I will “hold” your birth week for you for one week while you decide if you would like to employ me and sign the contract.

How would you describe your doula “style”? What do you see as your strength?
I would describe my Doula style as compassionate, dependable and enthusiastic. I’m looking to make a difference in your birth by helping to empower you to create the birth you want. I am very family oriented, reliable and insightful. I’m there to support you in this beautiful, enriching and exciting moment in life.
